In the 1970`s the band toured extensively in Europe and the USA, notably with Elton John, The Kinks, Traffic and Free etc.
Since then, Iain has released two solo albums and had a successful song writing career- his songs having been recorded by an eclectic mix of artistes including The Everly Brothers, Rod Stewart, Paul Young, Merle Haggard, John Travolta, Joan Baez, Keith Urban, Boyzone, Bonnie Tyler, Alan Clarke of The Hollies, The Shadows, Robin Trower, Maggie Bell, The Bay City Rollers, Chilliwack, Country Joe MacDonald, Finbar Fury, The Outlaws, Smokie and many others.
He has also spent time co- writing in Nashville and with Gary Brooker of Procol Harum.
These new songs have been a musical DIY project recorded initially at Iain`s home studio and then completed and mixed at the Arc Studio in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. –Getting back to the roots both musically and geographically.
The sea and its moods have long been a powerful metaphor for songwriters and especially so for Iain, still having strong connections with the North East coast of Scotland.
“Layering the guitar, keyboard and vocal tracks has been a really fulfilling process for me and I hope the result is a satisfying listen! I try to write what I feel and feel what I sing – simple as that….
There`s a lot going wrong in the world as always, life is full of irony and it`s easy to be cynical, but I hope the overall message in these songs is positive and uplifting.” I.S October 2015
